A photo necklace keeps a face close: a child, a parent, a partner, a pet. Here is which pendants can take a photo, how a picture turns into an engraving, and how to choose a photo that looks good on silver.
Which pendants take a photo
A photo needs a wide, flat surface, so we engrave photos on three pendant shapes. Each comes in 925 silver and in 14K gold-plated 925 silver, and each costs 79.99 EUR:
- Round: the engraved coin necklace in silver or gold-plated.
- Square: the engraved square necklace in silver or gold-plated.
- Heart: the photo engraved heart necklace in silver or gold-plated.
Rings and bracelets are too narrow for a picture, so they take text and symbols only.
A photo on one side, words on the other
Each photo pendant has two sides to engrave. Put the photo on the front and a name, a date or a short message on the back. One photo per pendant: a picture can be engraved on one side only.
How a photo becomes an engraving
A laser cannot print colour or grey ink. It marks the metal or leaves it untouched. So the photo is first turned into a black-and-white pattern of very fine dots. Where the photo is dark, the dots sit close together; where it is light, they spread out or disappear. From a normal viewing distance your eye blends the dots back into shades, and the face appears. Which photos look best on silver
- One or two faces, close up. The pendant is small, so a face that fills the frame keeps its detail. A group photo becomes too tiny.
- Good, even light. Daylight from a window works well. Avoid strong shadows across the face.
- A simple background. A plain wall or sky keeps attention on the person.
- Clear contrast. A face that stands out from the background engraves more clearly than a face in dim light.
- The original file. A photo straight from your phone is better than a screenshot or a picture sent through a messaging app, which lowers the quality.
Silver or gold-plated
On 925 silver the photo appears in soft grey tones. On 14K gold-plated silver the engraving shows as a dark picture against the gold. Both keep the same detail; choose the colour you like to wear.

Frequently asked questions
Can I engrave a photo on a ring or bracelet?
No. Photos need a wider flat surface, so we engrave them only on the round, square and heart pendants. Rings and bracelets take text and symbols.
Can I add text as well as a photo?
Yes. The photo goes on one side of the pendant and your text, such as a name or a date, on the other.
Will the photo fade over time?
No. The engraving is a change in the surface of the metal itself, not ink or print, so it does not wash off or fade.
