Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Loretana interchangeable silver jewelry, hallmarked in Kaunas and shipped across the Baltic. If you need further help, our atelier team replies within one business day.
The Loretana System
How does the Loretana interchangeable jewelry system work?
Each Loretana interchangeable piece is a complete pair where the visible decorative element (a halo, a drop, a stone cluster) screws off the hoop or post and is replaced with another element from the same set. No catalogue of charms. No mixed-brand fittings. Every interchangeable set arrives as a closed system: the base hoop plus the swap elements designed for it.
The mechanism is a precision screw thread, not a hinge or magnet. With clean fingers and a slow quarter-turn, the swap takes seconds and stays secure through full daily wear. For the full mechanism explainer, read our piece on how interchangeable hoops actually work.
What is the lifespan of Loretana jewelry?
The 925 sterling silver base of a Loretana piece is built to last decades with proper care. Rhodium or 14K gold plating typically holds 2 to 5 years of daily wear before showing meaningful thinning at high-friction points, at which point we offer professional replating to restore the original finish.
Stones, screw threads, and clasps are inspected before dispatch and protected by our 24-Month Craftsmanship Warranty. With basic care (read our silver care guide), a Loretana piece stays in rotation indefinitely.
Where is Loretana jewelry made?
Every Loretana piece is hand-finished in our Kaunas, Lithuania atelier. MB Loretana is registered with the Lithuanian Business Register (code 307418489) and with Lietuvos prabavimo rūmai (the Lithuanian state assay office) under order 4819767. Each piece carries the 925 international hallmark alongside our registered responsibility mark before it ships.
What materials are used to make Loretana jewelry?
The base of every Loretana piece is 925 sterling silver, hallmarked by Lietuvos prabavimo rūmai and identified by our registered responsibility mark. Plating is either rhodium (for a cool mirror-bright silver tone) or 14K gold (for a warm gold tone). Stones are AAA-grade cubic zirconia, selected for clarity and brilliance comparable to natural stones at a fraction of the cost.
All Loretana pieces are nickel-free and hypoallergenic under EU Nickel Directive, safe for sensitive skin and daily wear.
Are the stones used in Loretana jewelry natural?
Loretana uses AAA-grade cubic zirconia, a synthetic gemstone selected for hardness (8.5 on Mohs), clarity, and brilliance. Unlike costume rhinestones or lower-grade zirconia, AAA cubic zirconia is cut and faceted like a fine gemstone and stays sparkling under daily wear.
The choice is deliberate: it lets us deliver pieces that look and wear like fine jewelry without the price tag of natural diamonds or sapphires. For the full breakdown, see our AAA zirconia buyer's guide.
Gifting
Is a Loretana piece a good gift, even if I don't know the person's taste?
Yes. The interchangeable system is built for this. A Loretana hoop with two or three swap elements gives the wearer multiple looks from a single gift, so a gift recipient adapts the piece to her own style rather than committing to one design. The minimalist base pieces (stacking bands, simple hoops, classic studs) also fit almost any wardrobe.
If you'd rather let the recipient choose, our e-gift card covers any piece in the catalog.
For what occasions does one offer Loretana jewelry?
Loretana pieces work for the moments that matter: birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, "just because" gestures, Mother's Day, and milestone purchases for yourself. Each piece arrives in our signature green Loretana box with a brand card, ready to give.

How to choose the right Loretana ring size?
Loretana rings are listed in EU sizes 16 to 19 (including half sizes), where the number is the inner diameter in millimeters. To find your size:
- Measure a ring that already fits well: inner diameter in mm = your EU size.
- Or wrap a strip of paper around your finger, mark the overlap, measure the length in mm, and divide by 3.14.
- Measure at the end of the day when fingers are at their natural size, not first thing in the morning.

Is there a warranty on my Loretana purchase?
Every Loretana piece is protected by a 24-Month Craftsmanship Warranty from the date of purchase. If a manufacturing defect appears (a loose stone, a misaligned thread, a clasp that fails under normal use), email us at info@loretana.com with your order number and a clear photo. We repair or replace at no charge.
Normal wear (plating thinning, light scratches, sized stone movement after impact) is not covered but can be serviced at cost.
Atelier & Sustainability
Is Loretana committed to sustainability?
Yes, in three measurable ways:
- Production: small Kaunas atelier with hand-finishing, not factory mass production. Lower energy footprint per piece.
- Materials: 925 sterling silver from EU suppliers with traceable supply chains. AAA cubic zirconia eliminates conflict-stone concerns associated with mined gems.
- Design: the interchangeable system itself is sustainable. One hoop with three swap elements replaces three separate pairs of earrings. Fewer pieces, longer lifespan, less landfill.
Packaging is recyclable paper-pulp boxes printed with soy-based inks. We do not ship with plastic.
How are Loretana pieces hallmarked?
Before shipping, each piece passes Lietuvos prabavimo rūmai inspection and receives two marks: the 925 international hallmark (certifying the silver content) and our registered responsibility mark (identifying MB Loretana as the maker). Both are recognized across the EU. For the full hallmark explainer, read The Lithuanian Hallmark: What It Means on Silver.
